Welcome
to JCJ Pottery
"My aim is to make practical and
beautiful porcelain and lustreware* for
use in the home, and to teach those who
work with me to do the same. I value the
ideas of John Ruskin, the example of William
Morris and the inspiration of Bernard
Leach."
Jonathan
learnt to make pots from Lewis Creed at
Ashfold school, at the age of 12. After
taking a degree at Oxford university,
he trained at Farnham art school with
Paul Barron and Henry Hammond, and completed
this brief preparation by working for
Joe Finch at Appin Pottery in Scotland.
Since 1974 he has been a full time potter,
and has exhibited regularly in the South
East of England. He is also a member of
the Sussex Guild, the Surrey Guild of
Craftsmen and Wealdon Potters.
The showroom at the pottery is open to
the public every day except Sundays and
at Christmas, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
