Domestic Ware

We make and decorate porcelain by hand, for use in the home. We aim to make pots which enhance the quality of life and are as serviceable as the pots of mass production.

Our range
In addition to the usual items of tableware such as mugs, dinner plates, jugs, bowls, teapots and dishes we make umbrella stands, essential oil burners, house name plates, cupboard knobs, paraffin lamps, light pulls, candlesticks, lamp bases, mirrors, and tiles.

Decoration
Our patterns are painted freehand which means no two pots are quite the same. We aim to produce brushwork which is fluent without being mechanical.

Commissions
We often make special pots for individuals: from dinner services to commemorative pieces for Christenings,weddings, birthdays, or anniversaries. We have also completed special orders for firms, restaurants and societies. Most commissioned work takes about six weeks.

Showroom
Our showroom is kept well stocked with a wide range of work. Customers may see the work being made next door.

Replacements
We will always replace work of ours or repeat past designs where technically possible.

Repetition
While this lies at the heart of good craftsmanship and reasonable prices, it is not our policy to repeat shapes and designs mindlessly. Handwork has its natural variation and this variation leads to new ideas and new work.

Use
All our porcelain is suitable for use in ovens, microwaves and dishwashers. Glazes and pigments are lead free.

Potters’ marks
Although our brushwork is our signature, pots are also signed underneath by the maker or decorator.
